Playing Poker in Brazil

What is the first thing you think about when you hear the term Brazil? What things come to your mind? Is it carnival and samba? Probably yes. But there is so much more than Brazilians do on a daily basis. Did you know that Brazilians like to play online poker as much as Americans do or maybe even more? It turns out that there is more to Brazil than just crime ridden big cities such as Rio or Sao Paulo. You might have heard that Brazilian people love football. Having said that, Brazilians love many other games including poker online. While bingo and national Lottery are perfectly legal, other forms of gambling are not. It still does not change the fact that Brazilians love to play games like poker especially over the Internet. In fact, Brazil has a large number of online poker players. You would be surprised to discover how many Brazilians actually play it if you compared it with the number of poker players in many other countries including the United States. It would be difficult to find somebody in Rio or Sao Paulo who does not know about online poker. What is even more, there are also famous poker players in Brazil such as Andre Akkari or Alexandre Gomes and the big online poker rooms like PokerStars have created Brazilian friendly sites. Most of those websites are in Portuguese, but some of them are in English as well. It would be difficult for me to think of Brazilians and not think about the game of poker at the same time. Poker is one of the most popular games in many countries around the world. People love to play it because it allows them to take part in something fun, but also to make friends or maybe even make some money. Not all games of poker are played for money, but if you want to play it and bet your real money, you are more than welcome to do so. As you can see, there is a lot I could write about on the topic. As a poker enthusiast myself, I find it very interesting to hear that so many Brazilians love the game of poker. I do not know how many hours I spent playing poker in my life, but there was a time in my life when I used to play it a lot. I still play the game from time to time.
