One of my blogs rated as Great

One of my blogs recently received an important award and was rated as “Great” by an editor from a popular site. The exact score was 8.3 and it was based on the following criteria: Frequency of Updates, Relevance of Content, Site Design, and Writing Style. I am quite happy about it as I believe that the award is quite important. Generally speaking, I am happy that that site has been acknowledged by the community, as I put a lot of work in it and I am quite proud of what I achieved. I plan to make that site look even more professional and have high quality content like I always aimed for. I am putting even more work into this site so maybe I will receive some award in the future as well.

Inserting Charts

PowerPoint are a rich source of good presentations. If you want to use a lot of graphics, sounds etc, then when a time for slide presentation comes, choose this program to conduct your slideshow presentation. In addition to photos and sounds you can add charts. There is actually a very easy way to do it:

1. Go to the slide where you want to insert a chart.
2. Go to Insert menu and select Chart option. A sample chart will appear for you on the slide. Now it is your job to modify it to suit your needs.
3. Remember to delete the data that you do not need and replace the data with the data that you want to present.
4. Click anywhere on the slide for changes to go into effect.

I believe that using charts is a great addition to text.

New Versions of WordPress

WordPress is one of the most popular blog publishing systems in the world and recently a new version came out. While I am not using WordPress for all of my blogs, I am considering starting another blog with the help of WordPress. Let’s take a look at some features that WordPress supports:

• Native tagging support allows you to use tags in addition to categories on your post, if you so choose.
• Update notification lets you know when there is a new release of WordPress or when any of the plugins you use has an update available.
• Pending review feature for multi-author blogs.

Those are just some of the features and they make working in WordPress a pleasure.

Removing Fonts in Windows

It is possible to add new fonts to your Windows XP. It is also possible to remove them easily. If for some reason you want to remove a font that you do not like, you can do it by following a few useful steps. First make sure that you are logged in as admin with administrative rights in your PC.
1. Go to Start menu and then select Run.

2. Type %windir%\fonts in Run box and press Ok to confirm your choice.
3. Now select font or fonts that you wish to remove. By holding Ctrl you can select more than one font. Go to File options and choose option Delete. Here you will be asked if you really want to do it. Respond accordingly.
4. Watch how unwanted fonts disappear from your computer and enjoy.

By knowing how to remove unwanted fonts you will be more willing to experiments with different fonts, which will eventually mean having higher quality fonts on your PC.

Secure and Lock Folders in Windows

Having a secured and locked folder in Windows XP is a great way to protect confidential data. In this article, I wish to show you how this can be done in Windows XP:

• Create the folder where you wish to store important data.
• In the same folder where you created the new folder create the following notepad file, where NewFolderName is the name of your new folder:
ren NewFolderName NewFolderName.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}
• Save the notepad file as “loc.bat”
• Create another notepad file:
ren NewFolderName.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} NewFolderName
• Save it as “key.bat”.Clicking on the key.bat file will restore your folder, while clicking on loc.bat will hide it by redirecting to the control panel.

This may not be the easiest way, but you will not need any expensive programs as you can do it for free.

Print Your Own Envelope

Earlier on this blog I was writing how you can print mailing and returning addresses on envelopes and labels in MS Word. However, you can do more than that with them. You can add the graphics of your choice for example to your mailing or returning address. To do this, follow these few steps:

1. First, select your mailing or returning address to which you would like to add the graphics.
2. Go to Tools menu and open Envelopes and Labels window.
3. Click on Add to Document or Change Document.
4. In the Status bar click on the Page Layout view icon.
5. Now it is time to insert the graphics of your choice into the document.
6. Print the new envelope.

You never know when this might come in handy and having vast knowledge about Word will make your work with this text editor a lot more pleasant.

Deleting Rows and Columns in Excel

Rows and Columns in a Table can be deleted in at least a few ways. To do it, follow one of the given methods:

2. Select a row or column you wish to delete. Right click on it to trigger the menu. From here select Delete Columns or Delete Rows.
3. Press your cursor in a column or a row that you want to delete. Right click on selected element for pop up menu to be displayed. Select here Delete Cells. Delete Cells menu will appear. Here choose Delete entire column or Delete entire row. Press OK button to finish the whole process.

If you plan to work in Excel a lot, I am sure that this advice will be useful to you.

Starting to Use Excel

Every one of us does some things for the first time. For many people Excel is a piece of cake, but there are many people who did not have any contact with it yet. To start your Excel (provided of course that you have it installed) click on the Start menu from the bottom left corner of your screen. A menu after that will pop up. Go to Programs and then look for Microsoft Excel. Once you found it, highlight it and click on it once to open it. Now you are in the spreadsheet. I know that the grid might look intimidating in the beginning, but do not worry, you will get used to it soon. I will continue writing posts about Excel, so do not worry.

How to Obtain Graphical Headers and Footers

Headers and footers are used in general to insert the same text or graphics on each page. Additionally, they can be used to enumerate the pages. Today I would like to teach you how to out your own graphics in headers and footers in Word.

1. First, go to View menu and select Header and Footer.
2. In the window that appeared go to Header/Footer tab. Here you will see the option to customize either your Header or Footer. Choose whichever you prefer.
3. To inset a picture or a photograph, select the second icon from the right. You can add here other useful things that you wish for example time and date.
4. Press the OK button to finalize the whole process and enjoy your headers and footers.

This is a quite useful feature and it took my some time before I realized how it works. I hope you will benefit from it.

Cutting Text in Microsoft Word

Here is my favorite method of cutting the text:

By using your keyboard. This is the method that I am using the most. In order to eliminate a piece of text, select this text and press button Ctrl and X at the same time. This will surely remove the text. This is the easiest and the least time consuming method providing that you remember the shortcut. If you find it difficult to remember some of the shortcuts on your keyboard like cut, paste or copy, I suggest that you buy a keyboard (the one that I am having) that will have this information written on particular buttons. It is very helpful and it will save you a lot of time.
